Banisteriopsis Caapi (Yage)-10 seeds
B. caapi is a perennial vine native to the Amazon rainforest. The site of its thick, woody twists are quite captivating. It has a long history as an ingredient in the ceremonial brews of various tribes that inhabit the Amazon. Established plants in optimal conditions can grow several feet in a week. Caapi does best in filtered light with high humidity in a temperature of about 86 degrees Fahrenheit. It is frost tender and will survive only down to about 40 degrees Fahrenheit. However, growth will slow if the temperature falls below 68 degrees. The soil should be kept consistently moist with a small amount of water added every few days. Most caapi reproduction is achieved through cuttings, which are taken in the summer. Growing from seed is a privilege because the seeds only remain viable for a very short time. Most of the seeds on the market are offered at high prices and are already dormant. Using GA-3 is said to help break dormancy, but we have not tested that method. We are proud to be one of the only suppliers of truly fresh and viable seeds in the U.S. The seeds are of the Tunkunaca (Tuncunaca) Strain and are collected in Brazil. The Tunkunaca strain is known for having smooth stems.
Growing Information: Bury the seeds about 1/8” deep so that the wing is sticking straight up from the soil. Cover your container so that the humidity is retained and place it on a germination heat mat. Established plants thrive in hot and humid conditions.
