Pereskiopsis Spathulata -1 cutting
Aside from being an attractive species in its own right, pereskiopsis spathulata is the ultimate grafting cactus. It is commonly used to drastically speed up the growth of normally slow-growing cacti, such as astrophytum, ariocarpus and obregonia denegrii. It is even used for faster growing species such as trichocereus bridgesii and San Pedro Cactus. Seedlings and even areoles can be attached to pereskiopsis so that they grow almost at the speed of regular plants, accomplishing years of growth in much shorter times. Pereskiopsis is also vital to those with prized specimens that may suddenly take a turn for the worse. By saving one healthy areole of a sick cactus, you can preserve a potentially irreplaceable specimen. Each lot includes one fresh cutting of pereskiopsis s. The cuttings will range from 3.5"- 6", depending on availability. 6" pieces can be cut into two pieces and rooted if desired!
UNFORTUNATELY, LIVE PLANTS CAN ONLY BE SHIPPED TO U.S. ADDRESSES
Growing information: Pereskiopsis is generally considered easy to root and grow. We have even rooted single leaves. It enjoys flourescent and other artificial light as well as natural light. More light generally equals more growth. It is essentially an evolutionary link between cacti and plants, so it will use more water than a typical cactus during active growth, but it can withstand drought. All that is needed to root pereskiopsis is some damp, well-draining soil. In this case, damp stresses a low moisture content, but not completey dry. If a stem loses all of its leaves it can still root fine. Rooting is generally quick. It can be begin in just a few days, but it may also take up to a few months.
